Neighborhood for Good links volunteers trained as peer educators to make monthly care calls offering wellness checks to neighbors who live alone or feel they might be vulnerable to being alone during a disaster or emergency.

Join Our Community
Become a volunteer or register to receive a monthly community care wellness call as a member of our care contact virtual neighborhood
Volunteer as Nieghobordhood for Good Ambassador
- Recieve free peer educator training.
- Receive free mental health first aid training.
- Be matched with a virtual neighbor.
- Make a 10 to 20 minute wellness check care call once per month to your matched neighbor.
Receive a Monthly Care Call
- Be matched with a Community Care Volunteer
- Receive a wellness check care call once per month from your matched neighbor.
- Participate in virtual activities and events as you desire.
Eligability: At least one of the following must be true for you.
Are 65 years of age or older and live alone.
Are 65 years of age or older and live with another person who is age 65 or older.
Are medically dependent on a device that requires power from a wall outlet.
Would require physical assistance from another person in order to be able to leave your home during a disaster or emergency.
Volunteer as a Washington, DC Heat Ambassador
- Be matched with a Community Care Contact who lives in the District of Columbia.
- During a heat alert when tempertures are 95 degrees or higher, call your matched community care contact to confirm they have acccess to air condintioned spaces, if not at home.
- Report contact call to Neighborhood for Good thorugh a volunteer portal with notes on any emergency assistance needs the community care contact may have shared.
